The Pear Tree at Atlanta Botanical Gardens

This Pear Tree can be seen at the Botanical Gardens in Atlanta. This is a collaboration piece between CohnStone Studios and my self with the help of the wonderfull people at the gardens. It stands 12' tall and has 11" tall x 8" diameter pears. Thanks to all that made this happen. J Wood

The Metal Dragon

The Metal Dragon is finally done 11/11/09. He was presented to the public for the first time in Savannah at The Telfair Museum of Arts 15th annual Telfair Art Fair. More pics coming soon

Eagle Wall Sculpture

This Eagle Wall Sculpture has been fabricated from sheet aluminum every piece has been hand drawn,plasma cut, and shaped using either my english wheel, planishing hammer, slip roll, and or just plain beat over the anvil. This piece has over 400 feathers that where all hand cut,edge sanded,surface pollished,bent in the hand brake,curved over the anvil, then finally welded on to the sculpture frame. As you might imagine this has been a very tedious project but worth it in the end. Notice that the Beak can be diplayed in either the open or closed position

Metal Art Furniture

The first piece of a series of punctuation mark table�s and furniture. How can you not add excitement to any room with this 18� tall 30� long Exclamation Point. The table will be fitted with a teardrop shape piece of glass that will offset its profile by 6�. It has been hand crafted from Aluminum sheet then brush finished for an exciting appearance. Also the Sunset table (Constructed from Aluminum for the top with steel legs. This one is 18� tall by 39� long and 19� wide. Also Chain Web Chair(Constructed from 3/8� Heavy Chain, Stainless Steel seat bottom and back, steel legs, and an aluminum spider. Chain Gear Table (This is another piece of Heavy Metal the top is a 15� diameter found metal gear that has two aluminum plates which inset into the center and are different colors and hand ground patterns on each side for four different looks. This table stands 26� tall and weighs a ton. The Star Moon table is an all Aluminum with a 24" Glass top and an ambient light

Rolling Ball Machines

This is the first of my rolling ball machines I will be producing. The construction consists of steel and brass. All of the track has been made using an old world technique of brazing using a torch and brass filler rod. I couldn�t be happier with the effect this has given the project. I started with a handfull of track sections I prefabricated and began to piece together on the main support structure. After the first few pieces were in place everything seemed to build itself in the sense of what had to happen next. There are jumps, stairs, chimes, and shortcuts that make this a very fun sculpture to watch and listen too.

J Wood Wind sculptures. Custom art for your house, yard, or office. This Kinetic Wind Sculpture is in a private collection but is an example of the types of commissioned pieces that are available. It stands approximately 48� and its construction consists of aluminum and steel. Also Wind Sculpture #2 Constructed from aluminum for the wings and body with a chain hanging support frame, Antique Purple and Green Lucite balls, and a ball bearing supported axis.Wind Sculpture #3 From recycled bike parts.Wind Sculpture #4 is a wind chime that seems to be always spinning even in the lightest of breeze.

Sculpturel Wind Chimes

These are a series of Large wind chimes that I have developed. My biggest problem with wind chimes has always been the fact that the strings always decay. These have been built with chain making them a long lasting sculpture that sounds great.

Metal Art Wall Sculptures

This is a light fixture I did for my sons bedroom. The design was inspired by a rotary engine from an old airplane. The construction consists of 1/8" aluminum plate a hand crafted prop from cedar and an off the shelf light fixture.(notice the hand ground details of each cylinder) . the Tiki Sconce is made from 1/8" Aluminum and a recycled light fixture
